BRITEside Chat with Ohio Senator Matt Dolan

Matt Dolan is currently serving his second term as an Ohio Senator in the 24th Ohio Senate District. He was the only freshman senator to sit on the Finance Committee in the 132nd General Assembly which led to him chairing the committee in the 133rd. For the second time as Finance Chairman, Dolan worked with Republicans and Democrats to pass a unanimous state budget out of the Senate. Following his accomplishments in the last General Assembly, Senator Dolan was appointed Finance Committee Chair again in the 134th General Assembly.
In 2004 he was elected to his first of three terms in the Ohio House of Representatives, serving the 98th District, which included parts of Cuyahoga and Geauga County. While in the House, he earned the opportunity to serve as Chairman of the Finance and Appropriations Committee during his second term.
Senator Dolan’s background in the private and public sectors is extensive and diverse. He is a partner at the law firm of Thrasher, Dinsmore & Dolan, where he represents business clients in a variety of matters. He is a former Chief Assistant Prosecutor for Geauga County and Assistant Attorney General for the State of Ohio.
As a result of his public service, he was selected as an Aspen Institute Rodel Fellow, identifying him as an emerging political leader in America.
Senator Dolan is a graduate of Gilmour Academy, Boston College and Case Western Reserve School of Law. He lives in Chagrin Falls with his wife, son and stepson.
