Rito Santra

Ritabrata “Rito” Santra leads the deal flow in BRITE to identify and support emerging energy technology entrepreneurs. His engagement at BRITE is a part of his Venture for America fellowship, which is a highly selective community of recent graduates passionate about creating economic opportunities in American cities through entrepreneurship. Ritabrata grew up in Kolkata, India and moved by himself at the age of 18, to pursue his higher studies in the US. Ritabrata graduated summa cum laude from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor’s in Petroleum Engineering and three minors: Economics, Mathematics, and Global Engineering Leadership. He holds an MSE in Petroleum Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and wrote his thesis on reservoir simulation of low salinity waterflooding for improved oil recovery. During his studies, Ritabrata worked as a research scholar at Stanford University and the Helmholtz Institute in Germany. Ritabrata brings his technical knowledge on many pertinent energy topics such as Carbon Capture Utilization and Sequestration (CCUS), Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) for integrating wind energy, and utilizing solar energy for improving oil production. He is enthusiastic about improving reliable and affordable energy accessibility. Outside of work, you can find him in the kitchen cooking Bengali cuisine and attempting to capture the beauty in the mundane through the lenses.
