Academic Partnership Engagement Experiment (APEX)

The APEX program provides process navigation and support for Department of the Air Force related SBIR/STTRs. Process navigation services involve team matchmaking and consulting. Team matchmaking entails locating and connecting potential collaborators within the APEX network. Consulting entails supporting entrepreneurial and academic researchers the best support possible during their pursuit for Department of the Air Force SBIR/STTR funding, from pre-proposal to post-award.

JumpStart provides entrepreneur support services, programming and funding to startup companies around Ohio. Jumpstart deploys pre-seed and seed venture capital to help entrepreneurs turn their innovative ideas into high-growth companies.

Ohio Aerospace Institute (OAI)

OAI is a non-profit organization that enhances the aerospace competitiveness of its corporate, federal agency, non-profit and university members through research and technology development, workforce preparedness and engagement with networks for innovation.

Ohio Federal Research Network (OFRN)

OFRN connects Ohio’s federal laboratories to the commercial sector to identify opportunities for companies to partner with university, state and federal entities for research.

The Innovation Fund

The Innovation Fund is Northeast Ohio’s pre-seed fund that supports technology-based entrepreneurial companies. It awards early-stage capital to businesses in Northeast Ohio, including A awards of up to $25,000 to validate the technology.

SBIR/STTR Navigation

The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) funding programs award approximately $3.7 billion annually in non-dilutive funding to small, high-tech, innovative businesses. BRITE works with state and federal networks to help companies navigate this process through workshops, opportunity identification, application review, pitch review and partner introductions.
