The Director of Business Development & Entrepreneurship (Director) is the driver of fulfilling BRITE’s revenue generating operations in lab products and innovation services. The Director brings experience as a founder or executive in a high-growth technology business to BRITE’s clients as well by acting as a coach for market-entry and expansion in a variety of ways from identifying capital, supply chains, leadership talent to exits. The Director will focus on revenue generation through BRITE Labs as well as innovation consulting services. The Director is also paired with portfolio companies for different tasks to ensure startups have the best chance for success at bringing technology or services to market. It is expected that a quarter of time will be spent on BRITE labs sales strategy implementation, a quarter on innovation services sales implementation, forty percent on assisting founders and ten percent on marketing and business development planning for the organization. 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

·        Drive increased revenue and profit to achieve BRITE’s ambitious growth

·        Responsible for the overall management of all customer relationships

·        Planning and coordinating the implementation of business plans and the penetration of our markets

·        Monetize lab products and services alongside Chief Technology Officer

·        Provide in-depth initial evaluation of at least thirty energy-related companies a year and in collaboration with network partners establish quarterly milestones 

·        Directly advise early-stage high potential companies by providing consistent, value-added guidance and resources 

·        Provide input as a subject matter expert 

·        Develop relationships with the entrepreneurial, business development and technology resources in Northeast Ohio and the State

·        Provide timely reports of metrics and other information independently and conjunction with other members of BRITE’s service delivery team

·        Participate as advocate and thought leader for entrepreneurship and innovation in various presentation forums and outreach speaking engagements

 

Required Experience: 

This person must have a give-first mentality and passion for emerging energy technologies. Significant startup or other relevant private-sector experience with a track record of funding, growing, and exiting companies is necessary. Experience in developing and executing sales and marketing strategies. Appreciate the network over hierarchy philosophy. Previous experience as a coach preferred. Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

marketing & events coordinator

The Coordinator of Marketing and Events is responsible for marketing BRITE’s services and handling all events by creating high quality content for a broad range of events and marketing projects. This position will strategically design, develop, and execute events from conception to completion. This position is responsible for helping to develop marketing tools and tactics to increase BRITE’s visibility and reputation. 

 

Duties of the Position 

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 

·        Organize signature and regular events and coordinate with vendors 

·        Maintain website, marketing and public relations 

·        Consult startups on their marketing needs

·        Conceive marketing strategies for incubator and its programs 

·        Serve as the incubator’s public representative and social media person 

·        Develop and maintain media contacts and customer database

·        Manage BRITE Co-Working

 

Position Requirements 

This person must have a give-first mentality and passion for emerging energy technologies. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business or related field preferred. A minimum of two years’ equivalent sales or marketing experience is required. The candidate must be capable of working with diverse and ever-changing partners both internally and externally for both small and large events. The candidate must be able to multi-task and work in complex environments. Other requirements include being well-versed in using SEO and social media strategies and competency in the Adobe Suite and web development.

Energy Integration Lab Internship

BRITE seeks to immediately hire an Energy Integration Lab Intern to assist in the development and deployment of the newly launched Energy Integration Lab in Warren, Ohio. The Intern will apply knowledge in lab electronic instruments and software to test energy storage and Internet of Things (IoT) devices under the direction of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO). The Intern will work with the CTO to develop and apply methods and tools for collecting and analyzing data, and integrating results for customers, publications, training documents, and presentations. The ability to independently learn and problem-solve by reading manuals, seeking consultation, and testing equipment is necessary for a successful internship. The Intern must be able to work on-site at the Energy Integration Lab for a minimum of ten (10) hours a week with a flexible schedule. Hours may fluctuate depending on workload.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

·        Utilize software and configure test gateway boxes for customers

·        Communicate with and package tested devices for customers

·        Set up lab and provide demonstrations

·        Create and follow protocols for equipment usage and safety

Required Experience

Candidates for the internship should be pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Science or Engineering and be proficient in Microsoft Excel. Candidates with data analysis and statistical methods are preferred. Experience with the energy industry and/or electrical engineering is a bonus. BRITE will work with higher education entity for credit hours. Compensation is $14 an hour.

Non-profit management internship

BRITE seeks to immediately hire a Non-Profit Management Intern to assist with a variety of projects to streamline the organization. The Intern will apply knowledge in administration, project management, human resources and other disciplines to build capacity for BRITE to grow and further its mission. The Intern will work with the Director of Operations to develop policices. The Intern must be able to work on-site for a minimum of ten (10 hours a week with a flexible schedule and additional hours off-site. Hours may fluctuate depending on workload. 

Primary Job Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare on-boarding materials for new staff, tenants and clients.
  • Assist with event planning and community outreach.
  • Collect and analyze information for projects and grants. 
  • Perform other duties as directed, including monitoring the facility and creating a welcoming environment. 

Required Experience

Candidates for the internship should be proficient in Microsoft Office programs, have strong writing and communication skills and be able to handle multiple deadlines in an environment of constant change. BRITE will work with higher education entity for credit hours. Compensation is $12 an hour.
