In 2021, the Heartland Climate Tech Partnership was founded with the mission of scaling “commercialization of innovative climate tech and clean energy businesses across the Greater Midwest Region”. The partnership works to achieve this goal by improving collaboration among the various resources that exist to support climate tech and clean energy entrepreneurs across the Midwest. BRITE’s mission is to empower founders to launch energy technology solutions and is a proud partner of Heartland.
On their recently launched website, the Heartland Climate Tech Partnership includes links to relevant events as well as a structured resource guide. To help build a network of climate startups as well as encourage collaboration among stakeholders, Heartland shared the Co_Invest Climate event. The partnership also works to connect entrepreneurs with accelerator resources that assist with funding such as the Third Derivative Climate Tech Accelerator.
The resource guide helps direct entrepreneurs to impactful resources such as accelerators including the AWS Sustainable Cities Accelerator, incubators and coworking spaces including 1871, physical lab spaces including the American Center for Mobility, educational resources such as Empower Innovation, nationwide innovation ecosystem partners including 35Mules Innovation Hub, fellowships including the Activate Fellowship, innovation challenges such as the American-Made Solar Prize and more.
Through this guide innovators can filter searches according to their most important criteria, such as eligibility requirements for certain programs, location, as well as find links directly to useful resources. This provides entrepreneurs across the Midwest with greater access to the current climate tech and clean energy entrepreneurial ecosystem and as a result will help those entrepreneurs scale their climate solutions.
